• What General Education course(s) are you teaching? In what Element?

I am teaching ASL 225, which is Introduction to Deaf Studies.  That course is under Element 6.

• Why do you enjoy teaching in our General Education program?

I enjoy teaching this course because any student can take it and learn.  This is one of my favorites because I love to see the “lightbulb” moment, when students actually get it.

• As a faculty member, what is your role in teaching students in General Education courses?

I have taught several courses, from ASL 101 and 102, which are basic ASL courses, as well as ASL 225, which is Intro to Deaf Studies.

• What recommendations do you have for faculty teaching General Education courses at EKU? 

Don’t forget to have fun in your classes.  Yes, it is important for students to learn, but they learn better when having fun.
