EngaGE Vision, Mission, and About


The EngaGE program will lead efforts to create innovative, and learner-centered teaching practices focused on a transformational General Education experience at EKU. 


EngaGE advances a culture of innovation and collaboration among faculty to integrate the most effective and engaging teaching practices into General Education courses. 


As a strategic initiative, EngaGE will apply evidence-based approaches for increasing the number of students achieving learning outcomes in General Education courses while positively impacting student retention and success. EngaGE shares the excitement and significance of teaching General Education courses with faculty and students at EKU. EngaGE is designed to scale teaching and learning programming, learner-centered pedagogies, and resources for all General Education faculty by

  • Connecting the value of General Education content and skills to students' disciplinary and career goals. 

  • Communicating the extraordinary value of General Education courses as the foundation of students’ overall education.

  • Communicating the importance of General Education courses for the retention and success of students at the University.

  • Establishing consistent, high-quality teaching initiatives using data, evidence, assessment, and current research;

  • Developing programming focused on the integration of innovative, engaging learner-centered pedagogies into the EKU General Education classroom; 

  • Creating a stronger community of faculty for collaboration and support;  

  • Creating shared vision, understanding, and value for teaching the content of EKU’s General Education program; and

  • Encouraging excitement and passion in teaching General Education courses within and across the Elements.
